This is the time of year I find the hardest in the Pacific Northwest. I have had more than enough of grey days and cold temperatures (yes, I know 50 is warm compared to someplace like Minnesota but my frame of reference is California).
I was happy to see the sun today when I took Mercedes for a walk. We walked on The Burke-Gilman trail from the Lake Forest Park to Log Boom Park on Lake Washington. We walked to the end of the fishing pier and watched the UW crew team stroke by.
There is a funny spinner in the playground. It is bucket-shaped and set at an angle. You sit in it, kick the ground and spin around and around. On the day I tried it I found it a real struggle to stop. Luckily, I was the only one there, so I only provided a laugh for the gulls.
