Folklife Day Two

Drinking: Earl Grey.

Saturday's atmosphere felt much better. It was crowded. I had a chance to see Kevin Burke, an exceptional fiddler. The lawn was packed. Why do people take up room and then talk through the whole performance?

Workshops are my favorite part of Folklife. I went to a great vocal improv class. The class after was on acapella harmony, but it was barbershop harmony, one of the few musical styles I hate.

The last workshop was a open sing of Carmina Burana. The conductor insisted on explaining the reason and meaning of each piece which we sang one at a time. I thought after that we would sing it straight through but no, that was it.

Food eaten: BBQ pork sandwhich, apple dumpling with ice cream.
