Tri Training Day 7: Gimme a banana

Run 1.5 minutes, walk 1 minute x 6. Yes, you read that right. I ran 1.5 minutes SIX times. No walking fast for me.

What brought about this amazing transformation from Wednesday, you might ask? You are looking at it.

I've been intrigued by barefoot running for a while. I had some Nike Frees which are very flexible and lightweight and I liked them alot. But I basically ran the same. Then I heard about these toe shoes ( I know, I think about ballet, too).

They are pretty pricey for not much material (reminds you of bras, doesn't it ladies?)  I have a hard time finding shoes that fit; these were comfortable right out of the box.

Today was my first day running in them. You are supposed to run so the ball of the foot strikes first. For some reason this is easier than having the heel strike first. Rather than pounding the pavement with a jarring that ran from my heel
through my head, I bounded along on the balls of my feet, springing from the calves and easily staying in the right heart rate zone.
